La Fogiarella (Trulli)

Situated in the lovely region of Puglia, the so called "Spur" of Southern Italy, it is a land of unspoilt scenery and fine beaches, where there is an abundance of stone amidst the castles, cathedrals and grottoes. This immense region extends for 400 km along the Mediterranean Sea and the Adriatic coast, encompassing an infnite variety of sun drenched landscapes of characteristic white buildings, olive groves and orchards. Most of the houses here are built with a conical roof, the so called TRULLI. Valle d’Itria (Itria Valley) is the name of the area where we are and it is the most representative place for trulli both  for quality and quantity.

This part of Italy, which is relatively unknown, offers new and interesting aspects of Italian arts and crafts not least of which is the cooking and making of wines and olive oil.The nearest village is Cisternino, a fantastic little town with its milk-white houses and steep stairways, but we are located in the area of Ostuni  were there are also a number of famous beaches all of which can be reached within half an hour.

Adjoining the "trulli " there is a  lamia, another type of stone building which can be covered or uncovered and which is annexed to trulli or  farmhouses and whose original use was to store equipment. Many have been now converted into living dwellings with their original structure of stone maintained. There are 7 bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms.

All rooms have access to the  beautiful, spacious swimming pool and the library.
